On the question of shelving all interpellations, the Chamber of Deputies passed a vote of confidence in the Laval Government by 412 votes to 137, following the promulgation of the Ministerial demand for exceptional powers over a period of five months in order to combat speculation and defend the franc. The House adjourned when the Finance Committee adopted the Bill by 19 votes to 14. M. Bouisson was re-elected President of the Chamber by 285 votes to 259. PLENARY POWERS BILL ADOPTED. Laval consisted of a single clause authorizing the Government to take by decree until October 21 all measures necessary to fight speculation and defend the franc. The Bill was adopted by 324 votes to 160. The Senate passed the Plenary Powers Bill by 223 votes to 15. STATEMENT BY LAVAL. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) Paris, June 8. M. Laval, addressing the Senate, promised that before introducing special measures he would consult the presidents of the Senate and the Chamber and their finance commissions during the forthcoming vacation, though he would not necessarily accept their advice. Parliament adjourns on June 18, when it meets for a few days and again adjourns until the autumn. Meanwhile Cabinet aims at removing the deficit.
