MOKOTUA NOTES
VALEDICTORY SOCIAL. (From Our Correspondent.) There was a good attendance of local residents in the Mokotua Tennis Club’s pavilion on Tuesday evening when the friends of Miss L. Clearwater assembled to wish her every good fortune upon her approaching marriage. Mr A. L. Munro was chairman. The evening was spent in dancing to music supplied by Messrs W. Fraser and S. Mincher and the following contributed items: Song, Mrs Tapper; dance, Mr J. Waddell; recitation, Miss Gordon; song, Mr J. Shaw; song, Mr J. Kerr; recitation, Miss M. Taylor; recitation, Mr A, Munro; musical selection, Mrs and, Miss Clearwater; song, Miss Gordon; song, Mr A. Nicol; song, the Clearwater children; dance, Mr J. Waddell. During the evening Mr J. Kerr, on behalf of Miss Clearwater’s friends, presented the guest of the evening with a breakfast and a dinner set. He alluded to the fact that she had lived all her life among them and was held in the highest esteem by all. Mr Clearwater suitably responded on behalf of his daughter. a
Miss M. Bums, of Mataura, is at present relieving teacher on the staff of the Oteramika school. Mr and Mrs J. Horton have returned from a holiday in Christchurch and Dunedin where they attended the Dunedin J.C. winter meeting.
