LUMSDEN NOTES

MEETING OF PARISHIONERS. (From Our Correspondent.) The annual meeting of parishioners of All Saints’ Church, Lumsden, was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Wednesday, when there was a large attendance. The Rev. E. G. Wilson presided. The report and balance-sheet for the year ending May 31 were presented and adopted. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £l9 12/1. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet the vicar thanked all who had assisted during the year. He wished to specially thank the secretary and members of the committee, Jfiss Martin, Mrs Charleson. and Mrs Bell for acting as organists;the ladies who voluntarily cleaned the church, the collector and the Sunday School teachers. The election of office-bearers for the ensuing year resulted: Vicar’s warden, Mr W. Johnson;, people’s warden, Mr A. Osborne; secretary and treasurer Mr L. Upchurch; collector, Mr H. Graham; delegates to the central vestry, Messrs H. Graham and J. Clouston; auditor, Mr W. Johnson. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the retiring secretary, Mr F. VZ. Thomas.

The meeting was then addressed by the Ven. Archdeacon Lush, of Invercargill, who complimented the vestry on the healthy position as disclosed by the balance-sheet and wished the members of the congregation a successful and happy year. After the business of the evening was completed an enjoyable social hour was spent. The annual meeting of the Anglican Ladies’ Guild was held in the afternoon, when the president, Mrs E. G. Wilson, presided. The halance-sheei showed a credit of 16/10. Mrs- E. G. Wilson was re-elected president and Mrs J. Menzies secretary. Arrangements were made for the season’s programme to be opened with a mystery pared afternoon on the 12th.
