PURCHASES FOR OVERSEAS.

Wellington, June 6.

The Mahana, which left Wellington to-day, carries 10 stud Lincoln ewes and 25 Lincoln, Romney and Corriedale rams for the Argentine. They are from Messrs W. Rayner (Wairarapa), H: J. Rayner (Wairarapa), J. Stringfellow (Wairarapa) and M. Voss (Longburn). The Wanganella is taking 22 Aberdeen Angus cows and heifers for various buyers in Australia from Messrs W. C. McFarlane (Hastings), J. A. McFarlane (Hastings), W. Kinross White (Hastings), H. B. Williams (Gisborne) and H. Armstrong (Dannevirke). Three two-year-old stud bulls ate also going, a Hereford from Mr J. J. Brice (Marton), a Polled Shorthorn from Mr A. Grant (Fairlie) and a Polled Hereford from Mr E. Humphris (Gisborne). The last-named is for Tasmania ‘and is believed to be the first Polled Hereford to enter that State. A number of Southdown sheep are being taken to the Sydney Show, destined afterwards some for Victoria and the rest for West Australia. The Melbourne Maru to-morrow takes 100 Corriedale ewes and four stud rams to Japan. These are from the Bushey Park Estate and are the purchase of the Japanese Government.
