STONER MURDER CASE

MRS RAITENBY’S DEATH. DISCLOSURE IN LETTER. (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) London, June 5. Mrs Rattenby’s letter states that she would have saved Stoner, who was sentenced to death on a charge of murdering her husband, but that her solicitor, Mr Lewis, insisted on the tf Mr’Lewis declared that she was determined to give evidence which would have hanged her and saved Stoner, but the morning before giving evidence she received a letter from her son, whereupon she decided .to tell the truth for the children’s sake. A Stoner reprieve petition has been launched in Bournemouth.

The body of Mrs Rattenby, who had been acquitted on a charge of murdering her husband, was found in the River Stour with six knife wounds in the region of the heart. At the trial of Stoner she admitted relations with accused.
