THE LATEST. RETURNS. (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, June 3. The Ministry of Labour estimates that at May 20 there were approximately 10,334,000 insured persons aged from 16 to 64 in employment in Britain. This was 14,000 more than at April 15, 1935, and 141,000 more than at May 15, 1934. At the same date the numbers of unemployed persons on the registers in Britain totalled 2,044,752, comprising 1,630,572 men, 65,120 boys, 293,662 women, and 55,398 girl?. This total was 292 more than April 15, but 45,629 less than the year before. The number of boys and girls on the registers increased by 10,300 during the period under review due to the registration of who left school at Easter.
