BUDGET SURPLUS
NEW ZEALAND’S POSITION. CAUSE FOR SATISFACTION. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) (Rec. 7.15 p.m.) London, June 4. Observing that the appearance of a Budget surplus anywhere is still sufficiently unusual to excite comment, the Financial Times finds cause for special satisfaction with Nev; Zealand’s enviable position, for, it says, New Zealand has always striven to comply with the strict canons of sound finance. It would be idle to say that New Zealand had no trade troubles, but there is much in its financial state to promote the confidence of investors.
