PRINCESS ROYAL
THROAT TROUBLE DOCTORS DECIDE TO OPERATE GLAND AFFECTED (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7- p.m.) London, June 4. The Princess Royal (Princess Mary) has been taken to a nursing home, pending an operation for an exophthalmic goitre. The Princess Royal has been under medical treatment for some time, but as a" complete cure was not effected, the present operation was decided upon. Lord Dawson of Penn and Sir Thomas Dunhill signed a bulletin. The disease is also known as Grave’s disease. The causes are not fully known, but it is connected with the disfunctioning of the thyroid gland. Sir Thomas Dunhill, a leading expert on thyroid surgery, will operate on Tuesday, removing part of the thyroid gland, which is a very delicate operation and is carried out fairly frequently.
