MOTOR ACCIDENT
’ CLAIM FOR DAMAGES FAILS. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, February 18. A claim for more than £lOOO damages was made in the Supreme Court as the sequel to a motor accident that occurred in Anzac Avenue on May 1 of last year. On that date, Hector Percj John Shaw, of Tauranga, retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Indian Army, was knocked down and severely injured by a motor car driven by Albert Leslie Bullen. Shaw claimed £BOO general damages and £212 14/- for hospital and medical expenses from Bullen. Plaintiff claimed that the accident was due to the excessive speed of defendant’s car and other negligence of defendant, but defendant denied negligence and alleged that the accident was due to plaintiff’s failure to exercise reasonable care in crossing the street. The jury gave a verdict for defendant.
