IMPENDING ELECTION
COMPANIES’ REPRESENTATIVES
NOMINATIONS CLOSE
(Per United Press Association-) Wellington. February 18. The nominations for the election of three representatives of the dairy companies to the New Zealand Dairy Board, under the Agriculture (Emergency Powers) Act, closed to-day with the returning officer, Mr G. G. Hodgins. Five nominations have been received for the northern ward, seven for the middle ward and three for the southern ward. The election will be held on March 12. The present board will be extinguished by Order-in-Council. The nominations are as follow: — Northern ward: — Ernest George Appleton, (Tunwin, Northern Wairoa). Samuel Andrew Ferguson, (Motumaoho, Morrinsville). William Grounds, (Hokianga). Alfred James Murdoch, (WhangarThomas Mervyn Wells, (Cambridge). Middle ward: — Neil Campbell, (Kauwhata, Manawatu). . Cyril Guy Conduitt Dermer, (Marino, Feilding). Walter Clement Guy Green, (Rahotu); Andrew Linton, (Lower Valley, Featherston). Benjamin Roberts (Carterton). Samuel Thomas Paviour Smith (Dannevirke). Robert Boswell Sutton (Inglewood). Southern ward: — John Dunlop (Seaward Downs). Andrew Rollo Guild (Milford, Timuka). William Lee, (Goodwood). GOVERNMENT MEMBERS. NOT YET APPOINTED. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, February 18. A denial that Cabinet had taken any steps to appoint the Government members of the Dairy Board was made by the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes to-day when his attention was drawn to the Press Association message from New Plymouth. Mr Forbes said that no names had been before Cabinet and no appointments would be made until after the election of the producers’ representatives had been finalized.
