HEAVY WATER

“NOT DANGEROUS TO MAN.”

(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 11.45 p.m.) Oslo, January 26. “In my opinion I have proved that heavy water is not dangerous to man,” declared Professor Klaus Hansen after drinking 10 grammes of a 99 per cent, solution which was a combination of oxygen and heavy hydrogen. The discovery was recently claimed, on the most outstanding achievements of physical science, that experiments had shown that water was poisonous to animals and the effect on humans was being explored. Professor Hansen said he found in heavy water a slight taste reminiscent of nitrous gases. He and an assistant have bought two litres valued at £lOOO and propose to drink larger quantities.
