BODIES DISCOVERED

TRENCHING OPERATIONS. OLD CEMETERY DISBANDED. (Per United Press Association.) Wellingtonj January 25. While engaged in sinking a trench for drainage-purposes in front of the old Borough Council Chambers at Karori, workmen encountered parts of the remains of three human bodies, but there is no means of identifying them. Hie discovery was not altogether une: S" pected, as it was knowii that an old cemetery was in the vicinity, though its precise location, as well as the identity of the majority of the persons buried there and their number was -unknown. Permission for the operations; had been given by the Health Department on condition that if , any bodies , were found they would be exhumed by the city sexton and re-buried in the Karori Cemetery. Inquiries show that these three persons were probably amongst the very earliest of the settlers in the district.
