OUTBREAK ON STATION.

THREE THOUSAND ACRES SWEPT.

(Per United Press Association.)

Blenheim, January 26. A grass fire, which started through the destruction of a washhouse at Mr H. Rutland’s sheep station at Cape Campbell yesterday afternoon, burned throughout the night, sweeping 3000 acres of pastoral country belonging to Mr Rutland and Mr J. McConway. A high wind helped the flames. Nearly 100 men worked till four o’clock this morning to extinguish the blaze. The losses of stock are considerable, but no details are available.
