FIDELITY FUND

NEW SOUTH WALES SOLICITORS. GOVERNMENT ACTION. (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 12.25 a.m.) Sydney, January 24. The State Government has introduced a Bill to protect clients against misappropriation by fraudulent solicitors, whereby every solicitor will be compelled to contribute to a fidelity fund until it reaches £109,000, to which victimized clients have access by the usual legal processes unless a court of law should dispense with that procedure. The Chief Justice will be empowered to appoint a Solicitors’ Statutory Committee which will be entitled to strike a solicitor off the roll and the Law Institute also will be empowered to conduct a surprise audit of any solicitor’s trust accounts.
