SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

EXTENSION OF ONE DAY. GRANT FROM DUKE. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, January 23. The Duke of Gloucester has been pleased to grant an additional day’s holiday to the children of New Zealand. The Minister of Education (the Hon. S. G. Smith) has announced that it has been decided to add this to the midsummer vacation and the schools will therefore open one day later. In the case of the primary and native schools the opening day will be February 5, but secondary and technical schools will open one day later than the date decided upon bi’ the lespective boards.
