A recent boxing contest in Johannesburg had a tragic sequel to-day when Mrs Stevens, mother of Laurie Stevens, Olympic lightweight champion, now a professional, died. She was present at the fight between Stevens and the Italian, Addo Spoldi. Seeing her son knocked down for the first time in his career, she collapsed and never recovered from the shock.
