FIRE ON STEAMER
ENGINE-ROOM OF VALADORA
ABLAZE.
RADIO MESSAGE FROM RARO-
TONGA.

Wellington, January 21. The Director-General of the Post and Telegraph Department (Mr G. McNamara) has been advised from the Rarotonga radio station, as follows; “The steamer Valadora is afire in position 25.17 North, 52.00 West. The boats over the engine-room are now burning and the engine-room is ablaze.” It is understood the Rangatiki and another vessel are proceeding to the assistance of the Valadora.
