EVENING SPORTS. (From Our Correspondent.) The weekly meeting of the Mataura Evening Sports Club was held on the Recreation ground on Wednesday, when in ideal weather conditions and before a large attendance of the public an interesting programme of running and cycling events was decided. As wasthe case last week, the Mataura Kilties Band paraded and played selections. Following are the results:— Schoolboys’ Race: Leo Dobbs 1, J. Sinclair 2, S. Redman 3. Schoolgirls’ Race: Peggy Dobbs 1, Dorothy McLeod 2, Dulcie Hayles 3. Senior Girls’ Race: Sheila Buchanan 1, Betty McEwing 2, Lois Sinclair 3. Boys’ Cycle Race: L. Marshall 1, B. Cockburn and J. Richmond, equal, 2. Girls’ Three-legged Race: Alfreda Perry and D. McLeod 1, Norma Ashby and Annie McGillivray 2, B. McEwing and P, O’Brien 3.

One Mile Cycle: R. English 1, J Sayers 2, W. Coster 3. Won by three lengths, with next rider a good distance away third. Two-mile Cycle: W. Coster 1, R. English 2, J. Sayers 3. Won by two lengths, with the same distance between second and third men. 100 Yards Handicap: D. McCaughan 1, M. Sutherland 2, J. McGill! ♦ay 3. 220 Yards Handicap: D. McCaughan 1, J. McGillivray 2, Ivan Shaw 3. This was a good race, the winner reaching the tape one yard ahead of the second man.
