RETURNED SOLDIERS

MARRIED AFTER DISCHARGE FROM ARMY.

PROVISION FOR WIDOWS AND CHILDREN.

(From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, November 7.

The Government intends to make provision for the widows and children of those returned soldiers who were married some time after they were discharged from the army, according to a statement, made by the Minister of Pensions, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, in the House of Representatives to-day. Mr H. G. Dickie asked the Minister whether in view of the distress among the widows of returned soldiers who had married more than two years after the discharge of their husbands from the forces, he would amend the War Pensions Act so as to enable those widows to benefit from the legislation. The Minister said it was hoped to deal with the matter as soon as practicable. It was intended to include the cases mentioned by Mr Dickie.
