CANADA TO AUSTRALIA

ULM PLANNING PACIFIC FLIGHT.

TO USE LOW-WINGED MONOPLANE.

(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.)

Honolulu, October 26,

Mr Leon Skilling announced that Mr Ulm is testing a plane in England for a flight from Canada to Australia, starting probably on November 20. Mr Skilling stated that he will be navigator, and Mr George M. Littlejohn (Australia) co-pilot. Mr Skilling is on the Aorangi en route to Montreal to meet Mr Ulm, to plan landings at Honolulu, Suva, Auckland, and Melbourne, using a low-winged land monoplane. Mr Stannage, Sir Charles Kingsford Smith’s business manager, is also on the Aorangi checking Wheeler Field, also fuel arrangements. He says that Sir Charles plans to fly very high nearing Hawaii in the hope of finding a tail wind. The surface trade winds will be blowing against him at this season of the year, but the Navy aerographer at Pearl Harbour says that there is a good chance of a favourable wind above 6000 feet.
