AMERICAN TARIFF
PROSPECTS OF REDUCTION. BARGAINING IN PROGRESS. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Washington, July 16. It is reported that the Government is conducting secret negotiations with foreign governments seeking tariff bargaining by reducing the United States tariff. The purpose is to permit additional foreign goods to the value of 200,000,000 dollars a year to enter the country. Though Japan is included in these bargaining talks, perturbation exists regarding imported Japanese manufactured goods, especially over the report that the Japanese have established a manufacturing city named Usa, where goods are manufactured and imported here stamped “Made in U.S.A.”
