AUTOGRAPHED BAT
PRESENT FOR KING’S GRANDSON. The King’s grandson, Viscount Lascelles, elder son of the Princess Royal and the Earl of Harewood, must have gone to bed on May 31 with an extra helping of youthful contentment. The eleven-year-old lad had learned that a wish very near his heart was coming true. He is very keen on cricket and had been taking a great interest in the Australian team. He knows records, for he is a diligent student ot Wisden and other cricket literature. The thought came to the lad that perhaps he might get the Australian team to put their autographs on his bat. Hearing of the boy’s interest in them the Australians anticipated his wish. They decided to present him with a special bat in commemoration of their visit. It was to bear all their autographs, and was to be sent to the young enthusiast at the Princess Royal’s home. . , The King is aware of his grandson s devotion to cricket and also of this kindly gesture of the Australians, which, it goes without saying, must have touched him as it would any grandfather-
