OBITUARY
MR W. J. CURRY. (Contributed.) The death occurred at Rimu last week of Mr William James Curry, a well-known and highly-respected resident. He was bom in 1861 in County Armagh, Ireland, and at the age of 11 came with his parents to Akaroa. The family settled at Little River Bnd a year later his father died. In 1890 the late Mr Curry married Sarah, eldest daughter of the late Thomas and Mrs Nicholson, of Doyleston. Twenty- _ six years ago he and his family came to Rimu where they nave since resided. The deceased was keenly interested in the welfare of the school and both in Canterbury and at Rimu was for many years a member of school committees. He was a capable violinist and many will recall the functions at which he assisted, his services being nearly always gratis. One of his proud possessions was a genuine Jacaba Stainer violin, now 236 years old. He was one of those residents responsible for the establishment of a district roll of honour in the Rimu School. He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs F. T, Dawson (North Makarewa), two sons, Messrs T. J. and W. Curry, farmers, Rimu, and two sisters, Mesdamea Sorenson and Gundy, of Canterbury. There are four grand children.
