OIL TANKER NUCULA

MISHAP TO ENGINES. ORDERED TO SYDNEY. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, April 9. Owing to a mishap to her engines at sea, the Admiralty oil tanker Nucula, which left Auckland for the Persian Gulf last Wednesday, has been diverted to Sydney for repairs. At the time of the mishap the vessel was en route to the Persian Gulf to load oil for the New Zealand cruisers Diomede and Dunedin. On Sunday when the Nucula was 1200 miles from New Zealand a defect occurred in the inlet pipe and the engines had to be stopped until temporary repairs were made. After the work was completed and the engines had resumed running, she received orders by wireless to proceed to Sydney for permanent repairs.
