DISCOVERY’S VOYAGE
DIVERSION OPPOSED. BASES IN THE PACIFIC. London, December 26. Revnolds’ Illustrated News states that "the reason for Mr E. Darnley’s resignation of the chairmanship of the Discovery Research Committee is his refusal to allow the diversion of the Discoyiry from scientific expeditions in the Antarctic. It is believed that the vessel will thoroughly survey possible naval bases in the South, Pacific and North Atlantic, with a view to the protection of British interests in the event of a Pacific war. _____
