WOMEN’S DIVISION.
ANNUAL GARDEN PARTY.
(From Our Correspondent.) The members of the Woodlands branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union were very fortunate in having been offered for their garden party on Tuesday, December 19, the use of the grounds of Colonel and Mrs Hargest at Rakauhauka for such a function. The residence, nestling snugly against a background of beautiful native bush faces the sun and is surrounded by the garden of which the roses in theii variegated colours are a most conspicuous feature. The brilliant sunshine with the shelter afforded .by the bush and the _ plantation fr o * l7 the wind made conditions fine. At the afternoon tea adjournment, the Rev. Renwick, on behalf of the guests, took the opportunity of thanking the members of the branch for their invitation to be present. He also expressed the thanks of all to Colonel and Mrs Hargest for the use of the grounds. Mrs J. Hargest replied. The president of the branch, Mrs E. Hargest, of Woodlands, and Mrs McNaught also spoke. Later m the afternoon the visitors availed themselves of the invitation and opportunity of inspecting the garden, of Mr and Mrs Albert McNaught which is situated further round the bush. Heie as at Colonel Hargest’s everyone was enthralled by the beauty of the residence and surroundings and the gorgeous display of the garden.
