FRACTURE OF SKULL
PRIEST SERIOUSLY INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, January 5. A fracture of the skull was suffered by Father J. Doherty, aged 36, parish priest at Paeroa for the past three years, at Waihi beach during the New Year holidays. He was climbing a bank after a bathe when he slipped and struck his head on a rock embedded in the soil. The injury was found upon examination to be more serious than it at first appeared and Father Doherty was admitted to hospital in Auckland to-day in an unconscious condition.
