NO DIRECT CONVERSATIONS.
DIVERGENCE GROWS LESS.

A copy of France’s reply to Herr Hitler has been received at the Foreign Office. The impression in British circles is that direct conversations between Paris and Berlin are hardly pursuable further. At present the divergence has lessened, but not sufficiently to justify the hope of an early agreement without the aid of the other Powers. The result of the Rome conversations is awaited here with increased interest.
