COUNTERFEIT COINS
SATCHEL UNDER A BUSH. DISCOVERY AT GISBORNE. (Per United Press Association.) Gisborne, December 29. While playing on a vacant section in a suburb yesterday some children found hidden under a bush a leather satchel containing 178 counterfeit florins.
They were only partially completed and evidently had been hidden away after being turned out of the moulds. The edges were still rough and no attempt had been made to trim the coins and mill the edges. Judging by its appearance, the bag had been hidden for a considerable time.
No cases of counterfeit coins being passed have been reported to the Police lor months.
