APPEAL FOR TOYS

RELIEF WORKERS’ CHILDREN. SHILLING FUND SUGGESTED. If the people of Southland contributed a shilling each it would be possible to make Christmas merry for the 500 children of relief workers who otherwise will be without toys.

Relying on the goodwill and humanity of the people of Invercargill, the Women’s Unemployment Committee is launching an appeal for funds with which to purchase toys. No sum of money is too small, no gifts will prove unacceptable. The fund will remain open till December 21, and donations in cash should be sent to and will be acknowledged by the Southland Times. Donations in kind may be sent to the Relief Depot, Yarrow street. It is estimated that £5O will be required. The following donations are acknowledged:—
