TRADE TREATY DESIRED.
FRANCE AND AUSTRALIA.

The Paris correspondent of the Australian Press Association says that M. Voss informed the Commonwealth of France’s desire to negotiate a trade treaty. The Ministry of Commerce spokesman points out that despite the fact that Australian wheat and butter are subjected to a 200 per cent., surtax Australia's exports to France in 1J32 were worth £7,000,000, whereas France’s exports to Australia were on y £1 200 000. A treaty may enable France to counter , the Japanese silk invasion of Australia and give an ac vantage to Australian wool, fiuit, and frozen meat in the French markets.
