The public paid £43,000,000 last year for seats in cinemas in Great Britain. Of this £7,000,000 was entertainment tax, leaving £36,000,000 as box-office receipts. As the average price for admission was about 9d, there were 960,000,000 admissions, or 18,500,000 a week.
