THREAT TO FORD COMPANY. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Detroit, October 27. The Ford Motor Company to-day described as an “act of injustice” Senator Johnson’s statement that he would turn the case over to the AttorneyGeneral if Mr Henry Ford failed to submit figures on the wages and hours schedules as requested by the National Automobile Code. The company charged Johnson with assuming the “airs of a dictator,” claiming that no refusal had been made. Even the original signers of the code have had no time to file reports. Henry Ford is not a member of the National Automobile Chamber. However, it indicated that Ford would furnish data u requested by the organization.
BOYCOTT PROJECTED NO GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 6.40 p.m.) Washington, October 28. Mr Roosevelt definitely projected the boycott against Mr Ford to-day when he let it be known that barring contrary legal decision by the AttorneyGeneral, he was ineligible to receive Government contracts. _ The Secretary of the Interior Department, which is perhaps the largest Government purchaser of equipment, definitely announced that no more Fords would be purchased and Mr Johnson again made a threat of legai action against Ford, saying that any "clear cut violation” of the code by Ford would be communicated to the Department of Justice as a personal gesture against Ford.
