WINTON BOROUGH
MEETING OF COUNCIL. At the fortnightly meeting of the Winton Borough Council on Friday evening, his Worship the Mayor, Mr Thomas Walker, presided over the following, Councillors F. Moore, H. Cooper, T. McGillivray, W. D. McArthur, H. Cooper. The secretary Loyal Winton Lodge, applied for a concrete curb and footpath from Queen street to Prince street. It was mentioned that if this work was carried out it would complete the footpath on the west side of Park street from one end of the town to the other.—lt was decided to keep the work in view when sufficient funds were available.
A request was received from J. Gulick for a footpath in Durham street. — it was agreed to gravel the footpath. The following reports were adopted:
Works committee: The committee is going into the work of tar sealing the Great North Road and gravel etc. is being secured. The surfaceman has been working at the cemetery.
Cemetery; Work has been proceeding at the cemetery for the past nine days. With regard to the southern end drains these have been filled in while the northern portion has been left in the meantime. The cleaning up work has been completed. It was left to the sanitary committee to make some report in connection with the erection of a public urinal. Reserves: Nothing has been done with the Rhodendron dell as yet. Lighting: At the last meeting it was decided to put an extra light in Clyde street. It is suggested that the light be removed from the Drill Hall corner and erected on a suitable site in Clyde street. This light at the Drill Hall has been out of action for two or three years.
