DAMAGES CLAIM

SEQUEL TO MOTOR ACCIDENT. (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, October 26. The hearing was continued in the Supreme Court this morning of the case in which Charles Adolph Edvert Johnson, a labourer of Dunedin, claimed£2lo7 10/- from John Beresford Gillies, salesmen of Dunedin, as damages for injury received through being knocked down by a motor car in Princes street south on the night of June 20 of last year. Plaintiff, who lost a leg as a result of his injury, alleged negligence against the defendant. Evidence was heard at length and the jury awarded plaintiff damages amounting to £1407 10/-. Mr A. C. Hanlon, for defendant, gave notice to move for a new trial on the grounds that the verdict was against the weight of evidence.
