TOI TOIS W.D.F.U. (From Our Correspondent.) There was an attenadnee of 26 members at the Women’s Division meeting held at Tokanui on Monday, October 16. Ten shillings was donated by the branch to prizes for the wool display at the Invercargill Show. The president in reference to the recent flower show stated that financially and otherwise it was quite successful, much credit being due to the very willing helpers who had assisted in every possible manner. The halfyearly balance was read and passed. Mrs Pankhurst and Mrs Carston, of Wyndham, gave a demonstration and lecture on sick bed nursing and basket making. Afternoon tea concluded a most successful day. Ball at Quarry Hills.
On Friday 20th inst. the Quarry Hills bachelors combined to entertain the public to a dance in the local hall. This proved to be a very wellattended and conducted evening, visitors being present from all surrounding districts. Music was supplied by the Golden Dawn orchestra, while Messrs B. Thompson and A. Mainland capably filled the positions of M.C’s. Among those present were Mesdames A. Coster, Shields, J. Mainland, A. Hansen, W. Birse, H. Wray, E. Churchill, J. Lamb, A. Leith, G. Wardle, N. Macintosh, E. Caddie, Misses Hagen (2), Jennings (2), Crosbie (5), White (2), Thomas (2), McEwan (2), Crighton, Buckingham, Blair (2), Richardson, Thomson, Urquhart, Macintosh, Birse (2), Lamb (2), Leith, McManus, Smith, Voice, Thwaites, Mainland, Short, Lee (2), Messrs Crosbie (2), Mainland, Churchill, Cook, Birse, Moffett, Buckingham (2), West, Scrumchau.
