MR RING W. LARDNER. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) New York, September 26. Mr Ring W. Lardner, writer and humorist, died to-day following a long illness.

Mr Ring W. Lardner was 48 years of age. He entered journalism as a reported on the South Bend (Indiana) Times in 1905, and two years later went to Chicago where he was sporting writer first on the Examiner and then on the Tribune. For twelve months he was editor of the Sporting News, St. Louis, later joining the Boston American as sporting writer and afterwards the Chicago American. He had been writer for the Bell syndicate since 1919. He was the author of a number of publications, including “Treat ’Em Rough,” “You know Me, A 1.,” “My Four Weeks in France,” and “How to Write Short Stories.”
