LODGE MEETING

COURT STAR OF THE FOREST, WOODLANDS. The monthly meeting of the Court Star of the Forest, No. 8213, held in the Public Hall, Woodlands, was presided over by C. R. Bro. T. W. Phillips, there being an attendance of over one hundred, including many visiting Sisters and brethren. The election of officers resulted as follows: Bro. J. S. Sadlier, re-elected treasurer; Bro. W. Bridges, secretary, and C.R. Bro. T. W. Phillips as delegate to the annual district meeting. The secretary in welcoming the members of the visiting courts, apologised for the unavoidable absence of District Beadle Bro. B. T. Eastlake, who was laid aside by illness. The following Chief Rangers replied on behalf of their various courts:—Sister I. J. Dutton, Queen of the South; Bro. A. T. Newman, Pride of Gore; Bro. A. Kane, Southern Star, Bluff; Bro. W. T. Lawrence, Southern; Bro. A. Duthie, Star of the South. The main business of the evening was the “Initiation Ceremony Competition” for Court Star of the South’s shield. Five teams competed and the judges, P.C.R.’s Bros. A. MacGregor, J. Forrester and H. H. Moss had a difficult task to separate the competitors, the result being:— Court Star of the Forest, 237 points, first.

Pride of Gore, 236 2-3 points second. Southern, 236 1-3 points, third.

Queen of the South, 219 2-3 points, fourth.

Star of the South, 213 J points, fifth. P.D.C.R. Bro. C. W. Patton on behalf of Court Star of the South, presented the shield to the C.R. of the winning team. He complimented the court on winning the shield twice in succession, and trusted that they would endeavour to retain it under the new conditions next year, when each court would be judged in their own meeting room and on the whole working of the court, not only the initiation ceremony as at present.

After the competition supper was served and a dance followed.
