ARMS SEIZED
POLICE RAIDS IN SOFIA EFFORTS TO SUPPRESS TERRORISM FIFTY ARRESTS MADE
(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) Sofia, June 25. The police are raiding houses and seizing quantities of arms. Several people are believed to have been shot. The inhabitants of Sofia and the principal towns are confined to their homes following a midnight curfew. The authorities are vigorously suppressing the terrorism created by rival Macedonian groups. The Chamber of Deputies approved of the death penalty for organized attempts at murder. Trams, trains and telephones are suspended, and journalists are restricted in their activities. A later message states that martial law has been raised following the Government’s search in which 50 were arrested. Two hundred and fifty rifles, 600 revolvers, 200 hand grenades and one machine gun were confiscated. MACEDONIAN LEADERS MISSING. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) Sofia, June 26. Eleven hundred arrests were made on Sunday, but none of the prominent Macedonian leaders was found. STATE OF SIEGE A DICTATORSHIP RUMOURED.
(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.15 p.m.) London, June 26. The Belgrade correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that no telephonic communication is possible with Bulgaria. A state of siege has been proclaimed in Sofia, which is cut ofi from thew orld. The Government, determined to put down the rival Macedonian organization, searched almost every house and cafe in the capital during the night. Many arrests were made and a large quantity of arms confiscated. It is rumoured that a dictatorship will be proclaimed.
