NELSON SWEDE CROPS. ONE VARIETY SUCCESSFUL. (Per United Press Association.) Nelson, June 23. Remarkable success has followed the recommendations of Dr Freeman, of the Nelson branch of the Department of Agriculture, in connection with swede crops in the Murchison district, where club root disease was prevalent last year. He recommended the Heming variety and in one crop this variety was grown on an area approaching 30 acres with good results, while alongside on the same farm turnips failed owing to club root disease. •As this district is dependent largely on root crops for winter feed the success of this variety is of importance.
