“TRUE TO FORM”

REPORT OF THE M.C.C. ONLY ONE SIDE OF CASE HEARD NEXT TOUR MAY BE OFF (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 10.5 p.m.) Sydney, June 14. Dr Eric Barbour, a leading cricket authority, writing in the Sydney Morning Herald says: “We have to thank the Board of Control for masterly inactivity in allowing Marylebone to frame a report on body-line bowling solely from the evidence of its own men. In that respect Marylebone has run true to form. The Board of Control here has been guilty of neglect in its primary duty—to maintain the dignity of Australian cricket. It has allowed the minds of the M.C.C. to be distracted between a sense of loyalty and a sense of duty to the game. The M.C.C. has been swayed by reports from Messrs Warner, Palairet.and Jardine into an attitude from which it will find it difficult to withdraw.”

Prominent cricket administrators in Melbourne declare that it would not be surprising if the London representative of the Board of Control is instructed to discontinue arrangements for the next tour of England by an Australian eleven. The M.C.C.’s report will be considered by the Board of Control on September 21.
