THE CABINET
CHANGES ANNOUNCED ABSENCE OF PRIME MINISTER EDUCATION FOR MR BITCHENER (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, May 10. The Hon. G. W. Forbes announced Cabinet changes resulting from the absence of himself and the Hon. R. Masters at the World Economic Conference. The Hon. J. G. Coates will be Acting Prime Minister. He will also take over the portfolios of External Affairs, Public Trust and Electoral. The Hon. E. A. Ransom will take the Railways Department and Scientific and Industrial Research. The Hon. Sir Apirana Ngata will be Attorney-General. The Hon. J. G. Cobbe assumes the Department of Industries.
The Hon. J. Bitchener becomes Minister of Education. Mr Forbes said that the date of the session was contingent on the return of the delegates. Parliament had voted supply to the end of October.
