POST OFFICE BURGLARY
MAN BEFORE COURT. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, May 10. The third member of a party of three men concerned with breaking and entering the Moera post office on April 2, appeared in the Supreme Court today when John Joseph McClintock faced charges. Two others, who had pleaded guilty and are now serving sentences, gave evidence reversing their former testimony. Both now said McClintock took no part in the attempted robbery, remaining in the car while they broke in and tried to open the safe. McClintock, they said, drove them out, but when he learned of their intentions refused to have anything to do with the venture. Mr Justice Blair remarked that witnesses were now disclosing evidence of lower Court perjury. It was very serious to swear falsely that a man committed a crime.
The case was unfinished when the Court adjourned.
