A verdict of not guilty was returned by a Supreme Court jury in respect to John Alexander Paton Sissons, a carpenter, aged 27, who co-jointly was charged with John Charles Cannon, a draughtsman, aged 28, with conspiracy to defraud his Majesty the King of divers sums of money in that false time and book entries were made in respect to City Council relief work. Mr Justice Blair said he thoroughly agreed with the jury’s verdict. In addition both men were charged on four separate counts with making false documents for the receipt of pay knowing them to be false with the intention that they should be acted upon as genuine, thereby committing forgery.
