TRAINING TEACHERS
PRESENT SUPPLY ADEQUATE. NO APPOINTMENT OF PROBATIONERS. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, May 9. The Minister of Education, the Hon. R. Masters, announced to-day that no further teachers will be trained in the training colleges before 1935. The Minister states the number of unemployed teachers, together with the Government Statistician’s estimate that there will be a considerable decrease in the next three or four years in the number of children between the ages of five and 14 years, makes it evident that the present supply of teachers is sufficient for the requirements of the service until 1936. No probationers will be appointed until 1934, but in 1935 a number of .students will be admitted to the training colleges. ______________
