HELD BY BANDITS
KIDNAPPED BRITISH OFFICERS. (British Official Wireless.) •(Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, May 8. Replying to a question in the House of Commons, Sir John Simon said the work of co-ordinating the various efforts to effect the release of British officers kidnapped from the steamer Nanchang had been entrusted to the head of the provincial government police at Mukden. No positive result had yet been achieved, but he was informed that there was no truth in the report that one of the prisoners had been killed in the course of a fight between the band in whose hands they were and another band of brigands.
