USE OF REVOLVER

MARRIED WOMAN SENTENCED. IMPRISONMENT NOT IMPOSED. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, May 8. In the Supreme Court, Myrtle Long, a married woman, for discharging a revolver with intent to harm, was ordered to pay the costs, £24, of two trials, to enter into a recognizance of £lOO to keep the peace and to come up for sentence if called upon in two years. Mr Justice MacGregor said that he agreed with the recommendation of the jury to mercy. In ordinary circumstances such a serious offence would call for goal for some years but, in view of the extraordinary and unique circumstances, he did not intend to deprive the prisoner of her liberty. ■
