RIVERTON
Miss Marjorie McKinnon is spending a holiday in Invercargill. Mrs J. Hume, South Riverton, has taken up residence in Invercargill. The Riverton Social Club held its first dance of the season on May 3. Those present were: Mesdames J. N. Thompson, C. A. Caigou, T. R. Abercrombie; Misses Harvey, Cox, Hopwood (2), Walker, Connell, Lockett, King (2), de Clifford, Dickson (2), Hancock, Cunningham; Messrs McNeil (2), Nicol, Cleaver (2), Banks, Hunter, Muir (Otautau), Hopwood, Stearne (Otautau), Curry (2), Hope, Cassels. Miss Gwyn Abercrombie is spending the school holidays at Stewart Island. The first of a series of euchre tournaments. under the auspices of the Anglican Church, was held in the social club room on Thursday evening, when there was a good attendance. Mesdames Spencer, sen., and E. Ross won the ladies’ prizes, while Messrs W. Spencer and W. Anderton scored in the men’s class.
Mr and Mrs J. Jamieson, of Dunedin, are visiting friends in the south.
