RECOUNT COMPLETED CHANGES IN POSITION MR G. J. REED TOP The task of recounting the votes in the Invercargill City Council election was completed on Saturday afternoon. As previously indicated by the returning officer (Mr W. F. Sturman) the personnel of the council is not affected by the recount though positions among these twelve candidates are. Mr Gordon Reed has displaced Mr C. J. Brodrick from top place by eight votes and Mr C. B. Tapley has moved up a place The final figures are as follows:

The candidates so far announced as elected to the City Council are: The Rev. J. J. K. Archer, Mrs T. McCombs (Labour), Messrs E. H. Andrews, J. W. Beanland (Citizens), F. T. Evans (Independent) and A. E. Armstrong (Socialist). The count is proceeding for the 10 other seats.
