GENEVA CHECK

GERMAN AMENDMENTS ABOLITION OF SUBMARINES REDUCTION OF ARMAMENTS (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, May 5. The German amendments published at Geneva demand recognition of the right of Germany to equality in armaments in the event of no further reduction in arms by other Powers, also the abolition of submarines and naval and military aircraft. Hope was expressed that a reduction in the naval armaments of the big naval Powers will be brought about by 1935, failing which Germany will demand equality with other nations. In the meantime Germany will keep her arms within the limits of the Versailles Treaty. The bureau will discuss the German amendment on Monday.

Captain Eden returned to London and conferred with the Ministers on the present position of the disarmament conference. He returns to Geneva on Sunday.

Mr Davis held conversations with the Prime Minister to-day. He will return to Geneva with Captain Eden.
